The Author

Who stands behind the Chronicles.

There is no photo here. The story was meant to stand without a face. What counts is in the books.

Who

David Vaupel lives and writes in the Havelland, a few kilometres from the village in which the Chronicles are rooted. The saga is published under his own imprint, M.d.Ä.: written, designed and published single‑handedly, from manuscript to typesetting.

Why this story

“This saga did not come into being because I wanted to invent a world. It came into being because a question kept me awake at night: What remains of a person, when everything else passes? I never found an answer. I found figures who search with me, and a place more patient than the time that passes over it. Some chapters are comfort, some are doubt. The most honest ones are both.”

The questions underneath

The books answer little. They prefer to ask their questions so that they stay:

  • Why do we forget, and what remains all the same?
  • How does one carry a loss without laying it down?
  • And who would we be without those who tell of us?

Whoever finds answers of their own may keep them. And whoever would like to share one: the contact form is listening.

What is still to come

Books I and II have been published. Books III and IV are written and being prepared for publication. What else is taking shape in the world of the Aeonians can be found in What Is to Come.
