Right of withdrawal

Consumers generally have the right to withdraw from a contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.

Early expiry in the case of digital content

In the case of contracts for the supply of digital content that is not supplied on a tangible medium, the right of withdrawal expires once performance of the contract has begun, provided that

• express consent has been given to begin performance (provision of the download) before the withdrawal period has expired, and
• it has been confirmed that, by giving this consent, the right of withdrawal expires upon the commencement of performance (§ 356 para. 5 BGB).

This consent and confirmation are obtained separately during the ordering process.

Exercising the right of withdrawal

As long as the right of withdrawal exists, a clear statement is sufficient (e.g. by e-mail to the address stated in the legal notice). The use of a model withdrawal form is possible but not mandatory.
